Columbia Street Legend Passes On
Tuesday, June 21, 2005, by Lockhart
The NYT remembers Columbia Street/Upper Red Hook legend Barry Jetter, the owner of junk store General Nitemare, who passed away last week. "Mr. Jetter was known for grunting 'Whaddya need?' to intrepid browsers. Once, when a neighbor asked to borrow pliers, he replied, 'I don't have that technology.'" A fantastic neighborhood profile that's definitely worth the read.
