Curbed BuildingSpotter: Gates Double Take in 'WeVil'

2006_02_gateshouse.jpg

In search of this week's BuildingSpotter, we did a double take on the thumbnail for this West Village facade shot, thinking for a split second that it looked an awful lot like a slice of Christo's Gates. Perhaps it's just that time of the year—though this February dawns sans saffron. Still, a pretty cool shade of wood on those portals to aid your guesses—to be deposited, bien sur, in the comments below: Where is this exactly? How much did it cost? Is it a home, a gallery, a private club, all three? And whose leg is that?

I think it is Leroy, actually. I recall it was on the market 2 summers ago... Is amazing inside, with zen garden outside. I also beleive Leonardo rented it when he was in town filming.. if memory serves me right.

I live across the street from this single unit home on Leroy St. Who ever lives here must be pretty loaded, and own places elsewhere. They've only been around for a few weeks since I moved in around August. How do I know this? Well, the security gaurd who sleeps in his car outside all night is a dead give away ---no joke

Didn't Will Smith stay in DUMBO during the filming of hitch? Anyway, I think this is in fact the building on Leroy.

It is a single family home designed for Andrew Rasiej the irving plaza/interweb guy. I think it was listed last year for around a cool 9 or so.

Yes, lupe is correct. I have been inside for two different parties and the place is incredible. Totally opened up, with a glass wall on the back side facing a little garden with a fish pond. The ground floor has a glass-covered channel fed from the pond and the fish swim in! So you can stand on the floor over water and look down on fish! It's actually cool.
