$99M Townhouse: And the Winner is...

The palace above looks like it could've belonged to Caligula, and in reality that's not too far off a guess. It's the former Upper East Side home of Penthouse founder Bob Guccione, who ran into financial trouble and unloaded the place to the Laurus Fund, which is now looking for a buyer. The Observer's Michael Calderone has the delicious dish on the pad, which is listed in the shared realtor database at $99 million. In reality, prescreened bidders on the six-story, double-wide mansion (which comprises two townhouses joined together in 1920) will present their bids in sealed envelopes, to be opened in April. The high bid is the winner, and the losers will say it's an honor just to be nominated. Since the 17,000-square-foot home is only open to serious bidders, the Corcoran brokers who have the listing do not have it featured on their websites. Luckily we found Sotheby's Louise Beit, who is eager to give you a tour. One piece of Curbed advice for the future buyer: chlorine.

Just to let you know (in case it's not noticed) that the Cocoran brokers had set up a nice website (up sometime over the weekend) for the Guccione mansion at http://www.14-16east67nyc.com/home_page.htm. Some nice photos and revised floorplan for the floorplan porn!
