The Hackett Building, which we lasted visited surrounded by pre-demolition scaffolding, is looking seriously beaten up. That's the non-landmarked circa 1885 building in its current state of despair. Roof's gone. Looks like the walls are coming down next. In case you've forgotten, this is what is going to takes its place.

In five years you won't even remember what was there.
And when they tear this down in ten years...

And what about all the artists that made their studios in 10-63, some like myself for 13 plus years? We brought a special vitality, creativity and energy to the space and the neighborhood. Living through landlords who didn't care and let the building get destroyed and run down over the years but we stayed. Only to get thrown out and forced to relocate. An era is gone and LIC is becoming another sterile, generic, yuppified community.
SHAME SHAME SHAME on you developers and politicians for letting this happen.
