Group Still Trying to Fight the Power at McCarren Pool

On cold days with ice falling from the sky, one's mind turns to warmer times and things, like swimming seeing concerts at McCarren pool in Greenpoint/Williamsburg. Programming for the summer is still being planned and it isn't known if any lightening rod-like concert promoters like Live Nation will get a contract. This is all a long way of saying that the Pool Aid group has re-launched its website, which would indicate that McCarren Pool fun can't is closer than you think. The group wants "diverse programming," "cheap or free" events, profits earmarked for a fund for the pool, etc. Last week, there were indications that McCarren money will go into a general Williamsburg-Greenpoint park fund and also that there's a thought of returning the pool to use as a pool, which the group also thinks is cool.
