Video: NYPD Tower of Fun Rises Over U.S. Open
Wednesday, September 5, 2007, by Joey
Surely, in the context of our long history of covering the NYPD's Sky Watch, video of the lookout tower extending its giraffe-like neck is a monumental occasion. The clip comes from East Village Idiot , who writes, "I believe this is the first-ever video of the Tower rising to its prominence over the U.S. Open crowd." No word on whether Roger Federer was apprehended without incident.

Excellent. Glad to see my video make it to Curbed. I'll continue my, um, stalking of the NYPD Sky Watch tower now. If only they'd put it in the subways...
I'm sorry, I haven't been following this issue as closely as I should - what exactly is this thing supposed to do? It looks like it is from Star Wars.

Hey, they had this thing at the West Indian Day Parade this weekend. I guess they were looking out for flying jerk chicken or something?
Good! Then perhaps they will see all of the hideous crimes being committed inside of the U.S. Open, such as $3.75 for a bottle of water, $4.75 for a Snapple, $9.50 for a small burrito, $5 for a pretzel...
makes smoking a joint before the matches a bit more difficult
Then what's the point of going?
That is hilariously pathetic...i should be a cop they get the best views of the tennis match!
