My husband and I are considering purchasing a multi-unit building with some rent stabilized units in it in Chelsea. As the owners of the building, can we take over the rent stabilized units? Or do we have to take over the market units?

Thanks Curbed!

Interesting news about the Pratt area development.

Back in the mid 60's the Clinton Hill area around Pratt was, as some people hoped it would come, an up and coming neighborhood. Having been a student at Pratt in the late sixties it was an exciting time for adventurers. Some of us moved to Manhattan and bought lofts back then and others stayed behind.

I took my twenty grand and bought a loft below 14th. That same twenty would have bought a brownstone on Clinton Avenue. I value my life more than that.

No way in hell is that neighborhood going to turn around. Check out the latest murder in the hood. Yes the buildings are great but until the scum shits that live around there in the projects are filed in Sing Sing, it's a crap shoot.

Maybe if Pratt and NYU merge, NYU will stop building 25 story tan brick buildings in the middle of the village

& whats wrong with a 25 story building in NYC? If you don't like the plan then buy it out and not develop it for all your lazy ass friends.
