Remembering the Great Williamsburg Roof Tar Fire of '07
Wednesday, September 26, 2007, by Robert
When the Toll Brothers Northside Piers erupted in a great smoky fire late this morning, it resulted in a flood of emails and photos into our inbox. As it turned out, the fire was sparked by a kettle heating roof tar and the blaze, while very smoky and visible for miles, was extinguished quickly. Nonetheless, we thought we'd commemorate the Conflagration on Kent by running some of the pics we received from readers.

thank you #1. one of the funnier posts I've seen.
this fire was crazy, so 9-11 looking, anyone got pics of the fire itself? anyone know if theres damage too the building itself?
too bad it didn't collapse. lol
Too bad the whole neighborhood didn't go up.
Surprisingly this crappy new construction held up. I am sure once the yuppies move in with their heavy plasma TVs the shit box will crumble
im sure you know a shit box when you see one #7.
7 - oooooh, someone's jealous!
The FDNY did a great job! Thanks guys! We love you..
Giuliani, where are you? And all your fellow rednecks, don't play fool, good chance for you to play another "Patriot Act"
folks out on Bedford avenue were cheering while The Piers were burning. Nice that the local firehouse is closed. Too bad the building didn't burn down while waiting for a response to the fire alarm.
