One Hanson Finally Shedding Its Skin
Monday, October 1, 2007, by Robert

The black shroud that has surrounded the Williamsburgh Savings Bank Building, also known as One Hanson Place, is finally coming down and gold domage is now visible again. (It was originally supposed to be down in July.) The other thing dropping is the ask on some commercial space at One Hanson: a big office suite has been PriceChopped about 10 percent from the original asking price of $17 million to $15.4 million. Never mind all that, though, will the clock now tell the right time on all sides?

Why would anyone want to live in that area? It's like living in a massive subway station surrounded by highways, crappy stores and shitty little townhouses. And that building looks like a prison. I hate glass buildings but this one is at the opposite extreme.
you are one of the few haters of this buildings, larry.
it's beautiful. inside and out.
the area is terrific also.
you haven't ever been to brooklyn, have you...
larry is mearly a flamer. as a resident of ft. greene/clinton hill all i can say is the neighborhood is hardly full of "crappy little townhouses". check out clinton avenue aka "mansion row" buddy!
As a resident of ft. greene / clinton hill - I will say that 1) that building is beautiful. Particularly the lobby that once housed the Bank. and 2) I would never want to live in that particular location. That intersection is the worst deathtrap I've ever encountered and I prefer not to live next to a Brooklyn Mall. But that's just me.
It's good to see all you brokers out here defending the property and actually earning your commission. Unfortunately, no amount of fluff can change that One Hanson is a far from ideal location unless you consider living at the intersection of the LIRR terminal and bad mall. But what's there now is going to seem like nirvana compared with a few years from now when the huge constuction site that is Atlantic Yards starts churning. Yeah, buy now, and look forward to years of dust and noise and mess on your doorstep.
joe - my comment made at 1:39 - i'm not a broker - furthest thing from a broker actually thank u very much.
it looks pretty. but i'd have to agree it is really noisy in that neighborhood. i know, i know, it's nyc - but for brooklyn it is really noisy.
psst. let the bastards hate the area/building, and maybe we can keep the rent low. the further manhattan stays from brooklyn, the better.
It is an absolutely beautiful building, nice floorplans, terraces all over the place. But the neighborhood sucks, sucks, sucks. If this building were in Manhattan it would be a primo address.
The building is right next to BAM, a phenomenal arts complex. Walking distance to Fort Greene Park, Park Slope and Boerum Hill. Yes, a period of construction awaits, but I think this will emerge as rich cultural area within a few years. And no, flamers, I'm not a broker.
Ed-it's going to be more like ten years of construction. That is a mighty long period of investment with little hope of immediate increase of return.
