Crane Jumping

City inspectors aren't going to be watching every time a crane is put up or "jumped" (made taller), easing safeguards put in place after the crane collapse 10 weeks ago that killed seven people. Instead, Department of Buildings inspectors are going to be making spot checks. They've been at 51 jumps since the accident and found "serious" problems at two of them. [NYT]
