CurbedWire: Harlem 'Still Effing Going Co-op,' Double Concierge Action at Olympic Tower

2008_12_crappycoop.jpgHARLEM—A market meltdown or two is not going to slow the development pace up in Harlem, where a tipster writes: "This is probably news much less to you than to me, but my prewar, roach/rat infested building 312 West 114th Street (right, via PropertyShark), btwn FDB & Manhattan Avenue (at Morningside Park), is going co-op. It's right along that stretch of crazy construction on FDB. The neighboring lot has lied fallow and empty since time immemorial. I don't know if they are going to demolish this one or just renovate. But even in this economy, and in Harlem, this place is still effing going co-op." [CurbedWire Inbox]

MIDTOWN—Those super-high-end concierge services that have become de rigueur in new luxury developments may now be more sensitive to clients' woes, but they keep spreading like wildfire. Per a press release, Olympic Tower—the 52-story condo building at Fifth Avenue between 51st and 52nd Street built in the mid-70s—has signed on the ubiquitous Abigail Michaels Concierge to provide residents with hotel-like services. This is on top of their own pre-existing in-house concierge. Hey, gotta compete in this market somehow, right? [CurbedWire Inbox]
