Ah, the Tower of Fun. We've seen it on the LES, at the US Open, and in Harlem, among other places. It is now on duty in Dumbo after a spike in crime there and, apparently, will be there for "maybe several weeks" and is already credited with cutting crime. Where to next?

CurbedWire: Red Hook Gets Tagged, Best Parks to Get Mugged

RED HOOKA tipster sends along this three-story tall, building length tag from at Van Brunt and Dikeman Streets in Red Hook, writing, "Not sure what the story with this building is, but a pointed message appeared very very recently... like last night... along the entire side of the building." The Billie Holiday poster has been there for a while, though. Does it mean Red Hook is still sinking or is it a good sign? [CurbedWire Inbox]
NYC PARKSNew Yorkers for Parks issued the first ever crime tacking survey for New York City parks and found that Flushing Meadows Park has the most crime in the city and two parks in Staten Island had the least. A total of 308 crimes were reported in the 20 sites over 18 months. Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens, home of that excellent new swim center, reported the highest total number of crimes (99), followed by Prospect Park, Riverside Park, Bronx Park and Pelham Bay Park. CurbedWire: Year of the Rat Continues, Brooklyn's Park Ave. Marches On, Trouble in Inwood

DOWNTOWN BROOKLYNThe, uh, celebration of the Year of the Rat continues, quite literally, at 150 Myrtle Avenue, a 34-story condo tower. [CurbedWire Inbox]
PARK SLOPEWork has started to tear down a closed gas station on Brooklyn's new Park Avenue, aka Fourth Ave. The ownership of the property, however, has shifted from City Investment Fund to developer Isaac Katan. A tipster writes: "They plan to put up another 12 story apt building, not sure yet if it will be condos or rentals...Since Katan was involved with the other two Boymelgreen buildings (the Crest and the Novo) chances are we'll be looking at another fugly yellow brick building. Yum!" [CurbedWire Inbox]
INWOODA reader emails with some commentary about a Times piece yesterday about Inwood: "It's funny that they make no mention of a shooting death on the street two blocks away on Tuesday night, and the open air drug trafficking that goes on on Cooper and Vermilyea Streets. The people buying these condos might want to keep the 34th precinct's phone numbers on hand, because as wonderful as Inwood is, we still have a crime problem up here. In fact, a few days after the murder, an Inwood parent was walking by to look at the memorial, and a packet of drugs came flying out the window to a person waiting below...I wonder if that will cut it with all of the yuppies like me moving up here and making noise."
