Construction Watch: LIC's Pulaski Twins Standing Tall

The last time we looked at the buildings rising at the foot of the Pulaski Bridge in Long Island City, the Hunters View condo on the left was pretty far along. It's friend on the right is doing well too. That building is 11-15 50th Avenue and the Long Island City blog LIQCity has dubbed it the "mystery building" because some legal documents indicating it will be a condo have been filed, but there's not marketing campaign yet. Both are strategically positioned at what might call the the doorway to Long Island City and Ye Olde Pulaski. Nearby One Hunters Point, which totally confuses matters, is being built and marketed at the same time as the Hunters View condo.

Bubblemania Returns to Long Island City

One Hunters Point and Hunters View Condominiumscheck 'em out here opened up for sales on Saturday morning, and broker Andrew Fine reports that buyers started lining up on Friday afternoon to plunk down cash on the "affordable, upscale units." What is this, 2004? Fine assesses the LIC newbies: "The pluses are prices from the $600's per square foot, terraces, and upscale finishes. The negatives, include ordinary exterior architecture and locations that may be noisy- one hangs over the Hunter's Point train yard, the other over the Pulaski Bridge to Greenpoint." The "affordable" tag may deflect some accusations of bubble-era hysterics, but don't be fooled: as you can see from our helpful photo annotation, the bubble is back in Queens!
